Proposed pieces for July 21, 2021
I have added the pieces I have that are on the list Curt sent last week.
I added the Andrea Gabrielli from Serpent Publications which has parts for crumhorns. He writes particularly well for cornetto.
I realized we hadn't played any Byrd, and I particularly like him. A lot of the church music is written for professional singers, and tends to not have crumhorn range parts, but some of the music written for home performance is a bit more accessible to us. So I added a three-part Byrd, which we played on Tuesdays a lot on account of its applicability to the political situation.
Pointers to pieces we might play
Three part
- Willaert, Allons, allons gai, with barlines
- Willaert, Ricercar Prima, With barlines: score, parts
- Arcadelt, Nous voyons que les hommes
- Byrd, Of flattering speech
Four part
- Josquin, Mille regrets
- Victoria, O magnum mysterium: parts, score
- Fortuna desperata
- Isaac, Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen
- Arbeau, Belle qui tiens ma vie
- Arcadelt, Il bianco e dolce cigno
- Billings, Africa
- Clemens non papa, Ego flos campi: score, parts
- Encina, Triste España
- de Christo, O magnum mysterium
- Andrea Gabrielli, Puelle saltante imperavit mater
Five part
- Giunto m'à Amor fra belle et crude braccia, With barlines: score, parts
- Josquin, Faulte d'argent
- Arcadelt, Je ne suis pas si sot bergere
- Guami, Gravi pene in amor: score, parts
- Lassus, In me transierunt irae tuae
- Lassus, Fiera stella/Ma tu prendi
Six part

Seven part
- Quando nascesti Amor, parts (Note that we've already done this, I think with Liza, but I remember liking it.)
Eight part
- Laudate Pueri (I couldn't find a version with parts, so if it looks like we'll have 8 individual parts, it would be public-spirited of someone to partify it.)
- The piece by Zucchini that we started with Liza: Exultate Deo
Other options
If the pieces above don't work for whoever we have, there are the pieces we've played before, which are at http://serpentpublications.org/~lconrad/music/brs-loud/.
There's also all the serpentpublications.org pieces sorted by number of parts, and all the imslp.org Renaissance works sorted by various categories. cpdl.org doesn't sort things nicely, but has a lot of good stuff.
