1 Proposed pieces for June 30, 2021
Last week we played Willaert's 6 part "Faulte d'argent", and liked it. There's a five-part version by Josquin, which is fun, and I have added it below to potential five part pieces. There's a four-part, which is a double cannon, which I don't seem to have transcribed and of course the hard copy version I own is in storage. If someone has the London Pro Musica "Double Canons" book, and can scan it and send it, we could try that.
So far, I haven't heard that anyone's coming, so we might not have even four parts.
1.1 Pointers to pieces we might play
- 3 part: Allons, allons gai, with barlines
- 4 part: Ricercar Prima, With barlines: score, parts
- 4 part: Josquin, Mille regrets
- 5 part: Giunto m'à Amor fra belle et crude braccia, With barlines: score, parts
- 5 part: Josquin, Faulte d'argent
- 6 part: Willaert, Faulte d'argent, Josquin, Baise Moy
- 7 part: Quando nascesti Amor, parts (Note that we've already done this, I think with Liza, but I remember liking it.)
- 8 part: Laudate Pueri (I couldn't find a version with parts, so if it looks like we'll have 8 individual parts, it would be public-spirited of someone to partify it.)
- Also 8 part: Not by Obrecht, but last week we intended to play the piece by Zucchini that we started with Liza: Exultate Deo You probably already have it. We didn't because we didn't have 8 people, and I think it's unlikely that we'll have 8 people today either.
